Who We Are

Proodos Impact Capital is a fund advisory firm based in London, UK that helps private equity funds generate a social and/or environmental impact alongside a financial return.

We will connect investors to investment opportunities in climate smart energy and climate smart agriculture and healthcare for underserved communities in Sub-Saharan Africa through our first fund, Proodos I.

The Problem

About 600 million people live in extreme poverty (on less than $1.90/day), most of them in Sub Saharan Africa. The problems resulting from hunger, poor healthcare, malnutrition and poverty are made worse by climate change and global issues like the war in Ukraine, affecting global food supply chains. The United Nations produced a call to action in 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, identifying 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) we are meant to achieve by 2030 to ensure a prosperous future for all. The costs of addressing these complex global issues are exorbitant, requiring investment in the order of $5-$7 trillion per year, yet current investment levels leave an annual gap of roughly $2.5 trillion.

The Solution

Social and environmental issues have traditionally been the purview of the public sector, but these issues are becoming too complex and expensive for the public sector to tackle alone. The world needs innovative solutions from the private sector if we hope to curb the long-term impacts of extreme poverty and climate change.

Impact investing has arisen as one way to bridge the gap between the public and private spheres.

Our Mission

Our mission is to connect scalable, high-impact companies with the finance they need to flourish and make a tangible change in the lives of people and the health of our planet.

Proodos Impact Capital is building a climate smart portfolio of sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and healthcare/lifescience companies that will provide badly needed healthcare provisions for underserved communities, curb carbon emissions and build food system resilience.
